Issyvoo is an expat blog that’s not just another expat blog; something of a Berlin e-magazine that jumps between past and present time, high- and lowbrow. Created at the end of 2012, it’s an English language website, focusing on the experiences of Berliners old and new — making people aware of their surroundings, dispelling myths and joining the dots in the city’s collective memory.
Named after Christopher Isherwood and his German moniker, Issyvoo is a platform for Berlin-based writers, illustrators and photographers — both earnest and nonsensical, worthy and depraved. As the Hauptstadt changes quickly around us, we want to add some perspective to the dialogue without forgetting about the Spaß.
“I don’t believe there is anything in the whole earth that you can’t learn in Berlin except the German language.”
— Mark Twain 1891/92
Issyvoo: A seriously satirical, leftfield look at city life. Berlin blah blah.
